The Perfect Birthday Week

It all began on Sunday, March 21sr.  I drove Richie down to the airport.  He was in San Fran for a business trip Sunday-Wednesday.  I continued on to Cedar City to visit my parents.  While in Cedar I got to swim with my dad, shop in St. George, go to the Relief Society activity with my mom, and take Eve to the park--a lot.  It was nice to just relax and not be at home.  On Thursday we headed back up to Salt Lake and stayed overnight with my in-laws.  I got to have a free sushi dinner at Happy Sumo with my friend Starr that night.  Friday was my BIRTHDAY!  The big old 28.  It sounds so young, but feels so old. :)

While in Cedar Richie had sent me an early birthday card that told me to buy a new dress and shoes for a swank dinner on Friday night.  Richie came into SLC from Logan, I found two great dresses at TJ Maxx and then the big surprise...we had dinner reservations for La Caille!  I was so surprised and excited!  This was exciting, not just because it was La Caille, but because back when Richie and I started dating, we decided to set up a La Caille fund, and save money eat there at the end of the summer.  Eventually that money went towards my engagement ring however, and never ended up going.  So this was a fulfillment of a small dream of ours.  And it was wonderful!  I had duck, and it was absolutely amaazing--the best meat I have ever tasted.  Richie liked his food too and we both enjoyed it immensely.  I think Richie was quite proud of himself, as he should be because it was fantastic and a total surprise.  He was looking good in a J Crew sweater and I had on a Calvin Klein dress.  I only mention that because most of our clothes are from the D.I.  Thank goodness for cheap sales at TJ Maxx!  And that wasn't all; Richie also gave me a gift card for some new plants and a massage!  So, he definitely went above and beyond the call of duty on this birthday.  Thank you Richie!  And thank you Dad, Dan and Shari for babysitting Eve for me!

I also went snowboarding with my friend Andee the next day.  We went to Beaver, which is up Logan Canyon.  It was the last day of the season and goregous!  I hadn't boarded in three years, and was pretty terrible, but it was very fun.  I loved it, despite the fact that it hurt to sit for a whole week afterwards!

Poor Eve, she has never been away from me that much since she came home from the hospital.  Three consecutive nights being babysat, then I was gone all day Saturday.  My sister topped off my wonderful week by having some former mission companions bring me daffodils and a birthday present.  They also sang a birthday song in dutch to me.  Eve started to cry when she saw them because she thought they were there to babysit her!  She was very clingy to me for a couple days afterward, but I think she is over it. So thank you thank you to all who were involved in my fabulous week.  It was literally perfect.
